DJIBOUTI INTERNATIONAL FAIR (FID23): A SUCCESS STORY FOR ECOLO SYNERGY IN AFRICA

From December 3 to 10, 2023, the 3rd Djibouti International Fair (FID23) took place, organized by the Djibouti Chamber of Commerce, located in East Africa. FID23 was the ideal opportunity for Ecolo Synergy to network with the Djiboutian private sector, establish strategic partnerships, seize new business opportunities and discover the latest market trends. In addition to offering unique competitive advantages, Djibouti is a regional economic hub and boasts modern infrastructures such as ports and the Djibouti Free Zone, the largest in Africa. Its strategic geographical position at the crossroads of Africa, Asia and Europe makes it a major gateway to a dynamic and promising market, creating an essential trade corridor linking the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean. The fair highlighted the country as an intersection of opportunity, and Ecolo Synergy is proud to have been able to represent Canadian expertise in sustainable development on the African scene.

Overall, the show welcomed over 11,000 visitors over 7 days to hundreds of booths staffed by international entrepreneurs. The enthusiasm for their ecological solutions was palpable. The response from the various stakeholders confirmed that climate change cannot be ignored, and that companies are committed to making the necessary efforts to achieve net zero.

The team met a number of public figures with whom they were able to discuss the circular economy and their actions: Youssouf Moussa Dawaleh, President of the Djibouti Chamber of Commerce, Nabil Mohamed Ahmed, Minister of Higher Education and Research, Hassan Mohamed Kamil, Secretary of State for Sports, Maki Omar Abdoulkader, Attorney General, Colonel Idris Djama Guirreh, the Director of Immigration for the Djibouti Republican Guard, Djama Ibrahim Dara, CEO and responsible for authorities at Djibouti port,  Mohamed Fouad Abdo, CEO of ONEAD, Houssein Ahmed Houssein, CEO of Horizon Djibouti Terminals Ltd FZCO, Ali Mahamoud Del Wais, director of general administration of the MAEPE, Saïd Del Wais, President of the Horn of Africa Logistics & Trading Group (HALT Group), Dabar Adaweh Ladieh, Managing Director of Djibouti International Hydrocarbon Society, and the Presidential Group of the Republic of Djibouti.

It was following a meeting with Djibouti International Hydrocarbon Society that Ecolo Synergy was commissioned to make the SIHD building more energy efficient. The ecological and sustainable solution for the building’s windows will be applied by summer 2024.

FID23 was a resounding success for Ecolo Synergy and for the advancement of sustainable development in Africa.
